The Parent Teacher Student Organization(PTSO) has a goal to establish a close relationship between home and school by advancing opportunities for all parents to get involved.
We have one major fundraiser, so that you will only be asked for contributions once throughout the year. Our fundraising campaign is called Crusin' for Cascade. By limiting our efforst to one fundraiser, we can recognixe our supporters throughout the year, and we can focus our energy on activities and events that are affordable and accesible to all of our CMS families.
We have been very fortunate to have very generous support from many local businesses, families and community members. For those of you that have previously supported CMS, we thank you! You are so appreciated and your support has accomplished some amazing things.
Your involvement in PTSO makes a difference!
We have meetings once a month (please check our web calendar for dates & times) the normall fall on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1:30 pm in the CMS Library. We welcome your suggestions and participation. Whether you attend meetings or not, please volunteer. Mark your favorite volunteer opportunities on your PTSO Membership Form.
How does the PTSO help Cascade Middle School?
PTSO awarded $28,796.14in grants from September '09 to June '10.
These grants included helping to fund the following (to name a few): Technology equipment, books for the library, new track uniforms, new cellos, field trips and many other grants that fill the gap when the school budget doesn't allow for resources that the school needs.
When does the CMS PTSO Board have general meetings that you can attend? The third Thursday of every month at 1:30 pm in the CMS Library.
If you have any questions you can contact the President of the PTSO, Trisha Epple by email at email@example.com.
Fundraising is an important aspect of PTSO. We fill the needs that the school district can't. Fundraising efforts for our school have been overwhelmingly successful over the last few years, and PTSO is happy to share with you information about our two main fundraising efforts.
Cruzin' for Cascade (the only time students will ask friends & family members for donations)
Our annual Cruzin' for Cascade will be on Friday, October 7th at 1:30 p.m. It is our largest and most important event, bringing in more than $32,000 on average and funding over 70% of our PTSO budget. Students collect donations (big or small) from friends and family members to sponsor them for the event. They will be given a raffle ticket for every $10 donation they collect. The raffle tickets will be entered into a drawing to win prizes. During the event all CMS students will run/walk the track for 30 minutes, showing off their costumes and having a good time. Parents and family members are welcome and encouraged to join the fun.
Annual Sponsorship Drive (the only time PTSO will ask businesses, families & community members for donations and contributions)
Instead of approaching local businesses for support at various times throughout the year, we are continuing an Annual Sponsorship Drive. This means that the PTSO will only be asking for their financial and in-kind support once during the school year. If they become a CMS sponsor, they will receive public recognition throughout the year (at various school-related events, on the athletic field, in the gymnasium and through parent newsletters and communications). This approach to sponsorship will enable us to:
~ eliminate multiple fundraising solicitations to businesses and community members,
~ recognize our supports/partners on an on-going basis throughout the year,
~ and focus PTSO efforts on community-building activities and events that are affordable and accessible to all families.
If your family is affiliated with a business that would like to become a 2011-2012 CMS Sponsor, let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
